Aakash Chopra takes a dig at Pakistan after Women’s T20 World Cup final

Opening batswomen Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney scored glittering half-centuries as a ruthless Australia crushed India by 85 runs to win a record-extending fifth Women’s Twenty20 World Cup in front of a heaving Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.

Former cricketer Aakash Chopra took to Twitter, to pacify the disgruntled Indian fans by reminding them that the Indian women’s team did beat Australia in their earlier encounter in the tournament.

‘‘India lost only one game in the tournament. So did Australia. Both teams lost to each other. India beat Aus in the tournament opener. Australia beat India in the finals. Such is life,’’ Chopra rued.

However, a Pakistani fan took this opportunity to remind the former cricketer about Indian men’s team defeat to Pakistan in the 2017 International Cricket Council (ICC) ICC Champions Trophy final.

Chopra was not amused with the fan’s reply and decided to take a dig at Pakistan men’s and women’s team failure to qualify for the knockout stages of an ICC event since the aforementioned final between the arch-rivals.

‘‘How many knockouts did your team play since that final? Men and Women included. Jinke ghar sheeshe ke hote hain voh light jala ke kapde nahin badalte, dost,’’ he tweeted.
