Abbottabad, an alluring and picturesque Pakistani city hosted the first women’s cricket tournament on Friday, 3 May 2019 at the Abbottabad’s Cricket Stadium.

Four local teams participated in this first ever 10-over tournament, which formed part of the Cric4Us programme launched by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

A press release stated on Sunday that the PCB’s goal is to take women’s cricket throughout the entire Pakistan!

Families, local school children and friends attended the tournament. A reflection of the game’s popularity and support.

The event was organized by the staff of the zonal women’s cricket of Peshawar in cooperation with educational institutes and local government.

In addition to the activities on the field, the organizers created more activities focused on information, educating, briefing as well as inspiring the young girls to partake in cricket.

The following teams participated: Haripur Dynamites, Abbottabad Challengers, Manshera Sixers & Liui School.

Haripur Dynamites and Abbottabad Challengers went through to the finals. Haripur Dynamites won the toss and batted first, scoring 69 for 6.

Haripur Dynamites restricted the Abbottabad Challengers who scored 55 for 5.

Summary of Scores:

First Match – Abbottabad Challengers versus the Liui School

10 overs – Challengers: 96 runs for 6

Liui School : 32 runs – all out.

Challengers came out victorious with 64 runs

Second Match – Haripur Dynamites versus the Manshera Sixers

10 overs – Dynamites: 65 runs for 5

Manshera Sixers: 51 runs – 8.1 overs – all out.

Dynamites won the match with 14 runs.

Final:

10 overs – Dynamites: 69 runs for 6

10 overs – Abbottabad

Challengers: 55 runs for 5

Victory went to Haripur by 14 runs.

The most amazing things in the news were that the local people and the family of the players were more than happy to see the event in their own locality and now they want to see more of these events.

The players were playing with effectiveness and the girls from each team were putting the effort.

Not only on the ground but on the of the field they were told about the education and the need of the time to promote the spots around the country through women and also through men

This was the first ever women Cricket tournament in the history of Pakistan and hopefully, we will see the startup events in the future organized by the official Pakistan cricket board and with the help of local people and local government in order to ensure that everybody is happy because of it.
