‘Apna Khana Khud Garam Karo’ is a very commonly known term among the masses these days. The debate on ‘Apna Khana Khud Garam Karo’ between men and women started when a big placard during Aurat March has shown this statement.

It was back in 2018 when several women come on the roads holding placards, charts, and other boards in their hands on the occasion of Aurat March is organized on 8th March every year worldwide. Men were unable to digest the accusations and undaunted behaviors of the women. Gender inequality is very common in our society. This is the reason that several women come out of their houses fighting for their rights and breaking the patriarchal norms.

However, it seems that with the passage of time, the literal meaning of Aurat March has been lost. Each year, where some logical points are been addressed, some illogical statements are also experienced by many women. In my opinion, ‘Apna Khana Khud Garam Karo’ is one of them. This doesn’t relate to any right or injustice being placed on the women. Perhaps this was the reason that this term gets so much criticism and hate from the opposite sex. Heating your food is not an issue that should be discussed nationally during the Aurat March.

There were several tweets by men, videos, texts, and social messages against women who consider ‘Apna Khana Khud Garam Karo’ their right.

A famous Pakistani blogger and You Tuber have uploaded a video in this context as well. In the second part of the video, he has shown how the man in the house was unable to even light the stove and figure out where plates are being placed. While women have done all his tasks actively. He shows how much work a woman has to do in her home and that cannot be compared. It is not only the duty of the women to protect the house and do household chores. Men can also contribute to their efforts instead of lying on the couches.

‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi’

Even apart from this phrase, there was also a term that draws the attention of not only the men but women also. It was ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi’. There are still many controversies and debates going on this topic between men and women.

‘Apna Khana Khud Garam Karo’ is not so important a topic to discuss nationally. Women should be careful in their selection of issues or rights that they are supposed to fight for.
