Sindh bids farewell to plastic bags, the notification issued


Karachi: The Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information Senator Murtaza Wahab informed here on Monday that Sindh govt. has banned the use of plastic bags from October 01.

Ban on plastic bags begins today in Sindh

The Sindh government has issued a notification ban on plastic bags in Sindh.

According to the notification tweeted by the Senator, the provincial government “is pleased to impose a complete ban on the manufacturing, sales, purchase, and use of non-degradable plastic bags of all sizes.”

His tweet reads, “Notification banning manufacture, sale and use of non-biodegradable plastic/shopping bags in the Province has been issued by the Sindh government # Environment.”

It is pertinent to note that in Pakistan, Islamabad was the first city which banned the use of polythene bags in the city.

Moreover, the advisor to the PM on climate change Malik Amin Aslam has informed that “plastic bags have become a menace for the country. Every individual in Pakistan used nearly 300 plastic bags per year.”
