Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Wednesday has inaugurated the Thar coal power project. This newly designed coal power plant has the capacity to generate 660 megawatts. It is consists of two power generation units of 330MW each.
CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah has said that it was a moment of great pride for him when Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has inaugurated the Thar Coal Power Project yesterday.
He took to his Twitter after Bilawal on Wednesday inaugurated the first coal based power project in Tharparkar.
Murad stated, “Thar coal project, a dream of my leader Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and a task my father the then CM Sindh, late Syed Abdullah Shah, had started working on.”

It is pertinent to note that Thar Coal Power Project foundation stone was laid by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and then CM Sindh Syed Abdullah Shah in 1994. And finally, the project has been completed and inaugurated by their sons Bilawal Bhutto and Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday.
After inauguration ceremony, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari keeps on stating that “This is Naya Pakistan. This is what is called ‘good governance’. This is what you call a ‘mega project’. Others only talked. PPP actually delivered,”
