The news of the death of a coronavirus patient from Gilgit-Baltistan was making rounds on the internet. Yesterday, the local media has confirmed the death of two patients suffering from COVID-19 across the country.

However, on Thursday, the Gilgit-Baltistan government has denied the death of a coronavirus patient. They cleared the air saying that the deceased has died out of kidney complications instead of COVID-19.

Earlier, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza has also denied the death of any coronavirus patient across the country.

He wrote, “I can confirm that until now there is no corona related death in Pakistan. Geo report about a death in GB is incorrect. The corona virus test of the patient is negative. I request media reporters that in rush to break the news first, please don’t misreport. Check your facts twice.”
