Government Plans to Bring PayPal and Stripe to Pakistan
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) in Pakistan is actively developing a financial system and policies to integrate global payment gateways like PayPal and Stripe, strengthening the IT industry’s global connectivity.
Muhammad Zohaib Khan, P@SHA Chairman, lauded Dr. Umar Saif’s key role in showcasing Pakistan’s IT industry at GITEX Dubai 2023.
Dr. Saif’s vision goes beyond payment gateways, focusing on launching the Pakistan Startup Fund to attract venture capital and nurture a dynamic startup culture, with resources coming from IGNITE, funded by the telecom industry.
Additionally, the recognition of SIFC by the UAE highlights significant progress, with a focus on IT sector importance in Pakistan’s economic growth.
The IT industry in Pakistan holds several distinctions, including being the only major sector with a trade surplus, the potential to generate substantial foreign exchange, the capability to address trade deflicts, and the capacity to help the economy by creating high-paying jobs.
