Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ahsan Iqbal said here on Monday that ‘the current government is trying to silence every voice against incompetence.’
As per reports from a NAB spokesman, the National Accountability Bureau has arrested the PML-N leader regarding the Narowal Sports City Complex case.
On Monday, Ahsan Iqbal was summoned by a team of NAB professionals to inquire about the Narowal Sports City Complex case.
It is also quoted that Ahsan Iqbal will go through his physical remand here on Tuesday. The arrest warrant has been signed by the NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal.
Furthermore, the professionals from NAB have also visited the Narowal Sports City project in order to collect records and data.
Here is Ahsan Iqbal’s post arrest statement while talking to the media persons, “Whatever Imran Khan Niazi wanted to do it because he could not pressurize the PML-N.”
Moreover, he criticized the PTI government for the character assassination of its rivals under the guise of NAB.
“Rs2.5 billion were spent on Narowal Sports City project then how come corruption of Rs6 billion was committed as alleged?” he asked.
The PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif was also disappointed on the arrest of Ahsan Iqbal. He said, “The arrest of a person who fortified Pakistan-China friendship and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is deplorable.”
