Focused on feelings and emotions
During an interview, Farhat revealed much about her stories in these words,
“Basically my stories are focused on feelings and emotions, so my stories are made with those things in mind. I can never write based on what someone tells me to write. Whatever speaks to my heart, whatever I can relate to myself and whatever I have faith in myself is what I write about. If I say that I write about romance or love or women’s empowerment or feminism, whatever I write about, it’s important that I have my own belief in that topic and then I will be able to write it. If I don’t believe in it myself, I will not write it even if asked.”
She went on saying that “what I want to be in my stories, I am able to write them the way I want. I never have any pressure on me nor am I told to change what I’ve written.”
Love for writing novels
She expressed her love for writing novels as it is close to her heart. “I do prefer writing novels because in doing that, it’s only between myself and my reader. Whatever I want to express to my reader, I am expressing it directly.”
“With a novel, everything is mine – the scene, the characters, the dialogues, everything is done by me and in the way I wanted it to be and my reader reads it in that way. I think if you’re talking about self-satisfaction, something which you’re satisfied with as a writer, then I’d definitely say I would prefer novel writing over screenplay writing any day,” she added.
