After some remarkable performances in the first episode of the drama serial ‘Ishq Zahe Naseeb,’ the character are looking forward to some more brilliant work for the audience. The second episode just went on air on Friday and we were stuck to see the mind blowing performance projected by the versatile Zahid Ahmed.
Pakistani dramas are now breaking the stereotypes which were coming long ago. Unlike Indian drama serials, they are not revolving around the saas and bahu stories where saas plays the role of a cunning woman while bahu is the most bechari one.
Pakistani dramas are beyond these concepts. Just take examples of ‘Ranjha Ranjha Kardi’ where Imran Ashraf has given his remarkable performance while Iqra Aziz was also no less. It portrayed a fresh and learning theme which our society should accept. Then we have ‘Do Bol’ where Affan Waheed has broken all the stereotypes. He loved Gaiti and respected her. Dramas like these are very necessary for the progress of our industry.
Today, men are not fearing of taking up the emotional roles. They are actually mocking the toxic masculinity.
Zahid Ahmed as Sameer in Ishq Zahe Naseeb is another example. He lives in a country which is full of harsh and stark realities. It doesn’t allow him to exist outside the binary. He mastered up the courage to confront his step-mother over the talk of his marriage. He stated that he wanted to marry Zoya, a girl he loves and also that she will be a help for him to resolve his identity issues.
However, he remained unsuccessful in taking his mother’s consent. She refused his marriage with Zoya stating that “Who bhi aisi larki jis ko tumhary bedroom tak access ho?” the way Sameer reacted to his mother’s refusal was quite heartening. We were feeling pity for Sameer.
During the last couple of minutes, we are actually amazed to see Zahid Ahmed’s acting skills. The way he covers up Sameera and the whole scene was quite remarkable.
