Khamenei stated that “Iran sees Pakistan as a neighboring brother”


Tehran: Prime Minister Imran Khan was on his official one-day visit to Iran here on Sunday. PM Imran Khan meets Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

During the meeting matters regarding the bilateral relations and regional concerns and national security were discussed. Their meeting also aimed at reducing tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

After the meeting, Khamenei took to his social media handle Twitter and announced that “Iran sees Pakistan as a neighboring brother.”

His tweet reads as “Iran sees #Pakistan as a neighboring brother. With this unprecedented opportunity, the relations of the two countries should be better than what they currently are. Security of the borders should be enhanced, and suspended projects like the gas pipeline should be completed.”

Moreover, Pakistan Premier Imran Khan also thanked Khamenei for supporting Pakistan’s stance on the issue of Kashmir. He appreciated his efforts for Kashmir and thanked him for supporting poor people living in the Indian Occupied Region.

Earlier, PM Imran also arranged a detailed meeting with President Hassan Rouhani. Issues regarding regional peace and security were discussed at length.

While speaking at a joint press conference at Iran, PM Imran Khan has given his stance over the expected war between Saudi Arabia and Iran,

“The issue is complex but can be resolved through dialogue. Pakistan does not want any conflict in the region, as it has suffered 70,000 casualties in the war on terrorism and neighboring Afghanistan too suffered badly in the ongoing conflict,” he said.

In response, Rouhani lauded PM Imran Khan’s stance on regional peace and security.
