From going at the top level drama serial, ‘Ranjha Ranjha Kardi’ has taken a sudden turn after the depiction of marital rape by Bhola as something normal after all Noori is his wife. However, the public views are somehow, different. Like how could marital rape be as normal as it is portrayed in the drama serial?

#RanjhaRanjhaKardi is a brilliant drama, great OST, great acting.
However, the normalizing of Marital Rape in the previous episode of the show was just not okay. This is not how you deal with such a serious and important topic.

Showing that it’s ok to marry a sound but poor girl to a mentally disabled man because she has skeletons in her closet and then using martial rape to advance the story is @Humtvnetwork‘s idea of entertainment #RanjhaRanjhaKardi

In the harrowing scene of episode 21, we have noticed Bhola’s deteriorating mental status as he has taken the full doze of his medicine to recover immediately. However, the effects were disastrous. On his friends’ insistence, he has shown his wrath over Noori for not letting her go outside the room. The situation gets critical with Bhola scolded Noori harshly and the scene cuts to a severely bruised and ravaged Noori whose quivering at the end of the bed.
Honestly, Bhola’s mother normalizing the marital rape seemed downright disgusting to me. Like how can one even?! I felt all the more bad for Noori! 😭 #RanjhaRanjhaKardi

In the next episode reveals how Bhola’s mother tries to justify Bhola’s actions to Noori by implying that it’s completely acceptable what he did simply as they are married and its normal between the couples who are happy with each other. She explains to her that Bhola is recovering now, he has started understanding his relationship with Noori. Hence, she has shockingly normalized marital rape.
I’ve read this – and I’ve been watching #RanjhaRanjhaKardi – and I really, really like everyone involved… however… it doesn’t make a marital rape scene ignorable in a mainstream, prime time TV drama without repercussions. 1/2 https://t.co/nC3WI8MCKy
