Mashal Khan Murder Case – Final Verdict being Released

Judge Mahmood Hassan Khattak has announced the final verdict on Mashal Khan murder case. He has ordered life sentences to Asad and Arif Khan. Local media reported that two suspects, Sabir and Izhar were set free from the charge of murder.


Mashal Khan who was a 23-year-old student of Mass Communication and media at the Abdul Wali Khan University has committed blasphemy last year. The video of his murder which has made rounds on the internet was presented as an authentic evidence during the court proceedings. He was lynched by a frenzied mob on April 13, 2017.


All the four suspects have been absconding the case proceedings. However, later on, they surrendered themselves to the court last year in June. The court’s decision was being saved on March 12, after hearing arguments from both sides. At least 46 witnesses have recorded their statements in court.
