On Monday, Prime Minister Imran Khan holds a discussion with the business community and revealed that his official salary is insufficient to cover his household expenses.
As we all know that Pakistan is facing a severe flour and sugar crisis. People are really fed up with the increasing prices of the goods being sold in the country. The economy of the country is not going really well.
However, PM Imran Khan has told his supporters and his nation that soon they will recover the loss. He explained that his own salary is not enough to meet his expenses. However, he wanted to set an example before the world and he will continue from himself.
He explained that “We have reduced the expenses of Prime Minister House by 40 per cent.” He also said that he is making every effort to ‘change the culture’ by starting within himself.
Discussing his official salary he stated,
“I live in my own home, pay my own expenses. My salary is not enough to cover the expenses of my own household.”
Well, we think he is actually right in saying so. As we have witnessed from March 2019 reports, PM’s claims seem to be quite true,
The prime minister reportedly makes less than federal ministers in his own cabinet and the provincial chief ministers.
According to his February 2019 salary slip, “With a basic salary of Rs107,280, the premier is given Rs50,000 as a sumptuary allowance, an adhoc relief allowance of 21,456, an ad hoc allowance of 12,110 and an ad hoc relief of 10,728.”
