Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal stated here on Wednesday that ‘NAB only works against dishonest, corrupt elements.’
He asserted that Nab forces only work for the welfare of Pakistan. Its aim is to eliminate all the corrupt leaders and factors from the country.
Earlier, NAB was accused of working for the government, PTI party owing to its authority. However, the chairperson of NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal cleared that the institution is free from such acts. It is not associated with any political party.
Moreover, he mentioned that NAB has its firm roots in the country. Its performance has been appreciated both nationally and internationally.
He said that “In the past 27 months, the authority has recovered Rs153 billion from dishonest elements and submitted to the national exchequer. Apart from arresting 630 suspects, around 600 corruption references have been registered in accountability courts.”
It is worth noticing that NAB officials have arrested the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ahsan Iqbal on Monday. NAB arrested him with regard to his involvement in the Narowal Sports City case.
As a result, the opposition parties have accused that NAB is associated with PTI and is working for it.
