Mirpur: Late night at Sunday, the mountainous Neelum Valley of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) was flooded after heavy rain hits the ground.
The area which was most affected by the flashflood was Lessva Village in Neelum Valley.
According to the initial reports, 28 casualties are to be reported. The aftermath of the flood also resulted in several people getting injuries. The incident also destroyed 130 residential houses, 70 shops and 15 different types of vehicles.
Central Police Control Room of Neelum Valley district informed on Monday afternoon that a massive land sliding occurred on the heavily-populated village.
As soon as the incident took place, rescue teams rushed at the site to help the natives who were facing lots of difficulties. The deceased persons were shifted to the hospitals for post mortem. While injured ones have been giving medical aid.
Among deceased stand nine local residents, 13 others belonging to ‘Tableeghi Jamaat’. They were on a routine trip to the area.
Moreover, Pakistan premier Imran Khan also expressed grief and concerns over the sad incident. He advised the relevant authorities to take precautionary measures and provide proper medical facilities to the injured ones.
