One survivor & nine dead bodies carried out of Quetta Coal Mine


Quetta: Pakistani news media revealed on Tuesday that a coal mine located at the east of Quetta got fire immediately after an electrical short circuit sparked on Sunday.

The authorities of the Quetta mine declared on Tuesday that they have rescued one miner who has been trapped in the coal mine for two days. Apart from this survivor, the rescue teams also discovered nine dead bodies which have been shifted to the hospital for post mortem.

Total eleven miners were involved in the digging process around 4,000 feet (1,200 metres) at the time. It is being confirmed that only one worker has been found alive during the rescue operation. He is seriously wounded and taken to the hospital for medical aid.

The top provincial official for the industry, Abdullah Shahwani told AFP that “We have found nine dead bodies.”

Provincial government spokesman Liaquat Shahwani also confirmed the number of casualties during that terrible and insidious incident.

It is not for the first time, most of the coal mines located in the province are experiencing poor safety measures.
