Karachi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf had to call off its ‘Foundation Day ‘ rally which was held in Karachi after a fight erupted among its supporters during the MPA Haleem Adil Sheikh’s address at Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s Mangal Bazaar ground on Sunday.
PTI’s Karachi Rally didn’t go as planned. It had failed to display discipline and unity among its supporters. The worst time started after MPA Haleem Adil Sheikh has addressed the party’s 23rd Youm-e-Tasees (Foundation Day). A group of supporters started chanting slogans against party leaders.
The ‘Foundation Day’ convention turned violent, while the PTI leadership, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Khurram Sher Zaman, and others managed to escape from the venue rather than trying to resolve the issue and defuse the situation wisely.
The supporters, who indulged in heated arguments, started throwing chairs at one another and some even pelted stones. They started fighting each other, using sticks, chairs and water bottles. Different things were thrown even at the women’s enclosure too.
PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh also left the rally after a brief address and the workers continuously fought each other at different spots as they were going back home. Party’s foundation day cake was also not cut due to the workers’ brawl.
The convention was eventually called off. Prominent PTI leaders such as Ali Zaidi and Firdous Shamim Naqvi hadn’t even given their speeches.
