ISLAMABAD – Dr. Zafar Mirza, the Prime Minister’s special assistant regarding National Health Services stated that the Government, in an attempt to reduce tobacco consumption, decided to enforce health tax on it.

Revenue collected from this taxation will be used for health-related concerns which include: health promotion, control & prevention of diseases.

The total of 1200 children between the ages of 6 – 15 years consume tobacco on a daily basis.

Consuming tobacco results in various hazardous diseases such as diabetes, lung cancer, and cardiovascular disorders.
