‘Shehbaz can be held in contempt of court if Nawaz doesn’t return,’ Farogh Naseem


Islamabad: According to a statement by the Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem on Tuesday, ‘Shehbaz Sharif can be held in contempt of court if Nawaz Sharif doesn’t return to the country’ on the assigned date.

He has addressed a press conference which was also attended by the special assistant to Prime Minister on information and broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan.

According to the news officials, the government was directed by the Lahore High Court to remove the name of the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from the ECL.

The Law Minister was questioned about his statement over the verdict that Lahore High Court’s (LHC) has passed regarding Nawaz Sharif’s abroad treatment.

In reply to this question, he stated that “They didn’t accept the indemnity bond but they did acknowledge the undertaking,” he said.

He went on saying that “The apex court rejects appeals that are made against interim orders.”

He further made it clear that if Nawaz Sharif would not return to the country according to the assigned date, then Shehbaz Sharif could be held in contempt of court because he had promised in the undertaking form given in the court.
