Sindh political leadership is ‘dividing the nation’: Dr. Firdous Awan

Islamabad: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Broadcasting and Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has claimed here on Wednesday that the Sindh government representatives are ‘diving the nation’.

Where the country is going through such difficult time amid coronavirus pandemic, the Sindh political leaders are “engaging in divisive politics”. These political leaders are not contributing rather diving the nation.

When it comes to follow the decisions taken by the National Coordination Committee, each Province is behaving responsibly and acting very actively upon these decisions. However, the political leadership in Sindh is the only one that is not following these decisions.

She said, “The National Coordination Committee made decisions to ensure everyone is on the same page. The Sindh chief minister is creating fear instead of giving hope.”

Amid these difficult times, political rivalry should be placed aside and the entire nation needs to focus on the coronavirus problem. It is the responsibility of all of us.

She mentioned that “The Sindh government, in the exercise of its autonomy, must not forget its responsibilities. It must think of the poor people who have been forced to go hungry.”

Earlier, the Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has called for the provincial and federal governments to sit together and decide effectively how to combat coronavirus.

He said, “During our meeting with the federal government yesterday, we asked for a uniform policy to deal with the situation.”

During a press conference in Karachi, the chief minister further added that,

“Some provinces and the federal government agreed that some essential workplaces should reopen. We did not agree to open shops for barbers, plumbers, electricians etc.”
