Some thoughts on recently concluded drama serial ‘Aangan’

Entertainment

Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir starrer ‘Aangan’ has been recently concluded its last episode. The drama serial features some of the famous and talented celebrities including Sajal Aly, Ahad Raza Mir, Mawra Hocane, Sonya Hussyn, and Ahsan Khan.

In addition to these celebrities, the play also featured Abid Ali, Khameera Illahi, Zaib Rehman, Omair Rana, Madiha Rizvi, Uzma Baig, Shehryaar Ali, Rabia Butt, Hira Mani and Shehroz Sabzwari in pivotal roles.

The play was directed by Ehteshamuddin. It is based on the Urdu novel ‘Aangan’ which was written by Khatija Mastoor.

It revolved round the lives of all those Muslims who were living in the subcontinent before partitioning of Hindustan. It portrayed the essence of that time. How people led their lives? How women were living within the four walls of their houses?

During an interview, the director Ehteshamuddin stated that “The beauty of this novel lies in its simplicity and this is the reason why I chose it. It [Aangan] sheds light on the revolution that women went through in those times within the confines of the four walls where their only source of information was their male counterparts. Set in an inner courtyard, the story has been told from the perspective of a woman.”

Each character in Aangan has performed in a brilliant way no matter what character he or she has been given. We have seen the aggressive nature of Ahad Raza Mir. While Mawra Hocane has very remarkably taken her role as Aaliya. Sonya Hussyn was good in expressing charms and beauties. We have also witnessed the acting skills of Ahsan Khan.

However, among them all, it was Sajal Aly who has taken the lead. She has given such a lifetime performance in this drama serial which is difficult to forget. Her character as Chammi won audience’ hearts within a very few episodes of the drama serial.

Drama serial ‘Aangan’ revolved around the themes of power, politics, patriotism, women empowerment, love, hate, and many more.

However, the drama serial becomes a little boring with its slow pace and no development in the plot. Another setback which we as the audience has faced is its unavailability on YouTube. So, if you have missed an episode on TV, you won’t be able to get it through YouTube.
