Rawalpindi: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor stated on Thursday that Pakistan Army is ready to face the external as well as internal enemies.
He said that the Pakistan Army ‘won’t let internal, external enemies succeed.’ While saying this, he is actually referring to the recent punishment imposed upon the former President Pervez Musharraf.
He stated that someone has tried to disgrace the honor and institution of the Pakistan army. Anyhow, one should not be spared. He further showed concerns and express remorse over the detailed verdict given to Pervez Musharraf. According to him, the language used in the verdict was ‘beyond humanity, religion, civilization and values’.
While talking to a press conference over Pervez Musharraf’s high treason case verdict he stated,
“The apprehensions expressed after the brief judgment have proved true now and the words used in the detailed judgment are beyond humanity, religion, civilization, and values.”
For him, the current design of the judiciary needs a change in Pakistan and soon they will defeat this corrupt system. He said that the Pakistan Army has valiantly fought with the external forces, so, it will tackle the internal as well.
He further questioned the public about the loyalties of those who have sacrificed their lives for their homeland. He said that people who fought for the country should never be dragged like this (referring to Musharraf case).
Have trust in your armed forces
He added that people should have trust in the Pakistan army. “Have trust in your armed forces. We will never allow any anarchy in the country and while doing so will uphold dignity and respect of the armed forces along with the dignity of the country while giving full response to facilitators and tools of the enemy.”
“The armed forces of Pakistan with support of the nation achieved such task and objectives which no other army or nation of the world could do,” he added.
Regarding the special court’s detailed judgment, he went on saying that COAS and PM Imran Khan will soon hold a meeting to ponder over the matter.
