European Civil Aviation Team to Provide First-Ever Training to Pakistan Airport Staff

A European Civil Aviation Authority team is set to arrive in Pakistan next week to conduct the first-ever aviation security training for local airport regulators. The program, part of a broader European Union aviation initiative, will be held at Islamabad International Airport and aims to strengthen Pakistan’s airport security in line with international aviation safety standards.

The training will focus on advanced security techniques, including Explosives Trace Detection (ETD) and the use of Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD)—both essential tools for identifying explosives and maintaining aviation safety.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan (CAA), this visit marks a significant step toward aligning the country’s airport operations with global security protocols. The initiative reflects Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to modernize its airport safety procedures and adopt best practices in aviation security.

This development comes at a pivotal time for the Pakistan aviation industry. The European Union recently lifted a flight ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), enabling the national carrier to resume PIA flights to Europe. Additionally, Airblue, another Pakistani airline, has received approval to operate flights to European destinations, signaling renewed international confidence in the country’s aviation standards.

The upcoming training session not only enhances Pakistan’s aviation security but also showcases the country’s commitment to meeting EU aviation regulations and building a stronger reputation on the global stage.
