Dubai’s RTA Announces Higher Toll and Parking Fees: Full Details Inside!
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced significant increases in toll and parking fees as part of efforts to upgrade the city’s transportation infrastructure. The updated rates, set to take effect from February 1, will affect daily commuters and those attending events.
This includes an increase of the “Salik” toll to AED6, peaking hours will be from 6 AM until 10 AM and from 4 PM to 8 PM. For off-peak hours and on weekends, it is at AED4. These increases were proposed in an attempt to handle the traffic and mitigate the jams created at busy times of the day.
Besides tolls, parking around the Dubai World Trade Center will be AED25 per hour for major events. The normal parking fee remains at AED4 per hour in most places, while the high-demand parking zones will cost AED6 per hour.
The RTA affirms that all these updates target long-term upgrading of the means of transportation of Dubai to support smooth travel. It is argued that higher tariffs may raise transit costs, however, authorities view this as changing traffic patterns as well as urging more people towards public transport systems.
