First Time: Pakistani Batter and Bowler Rank First in ICC ODI Rankings
Pakistani Players Make History Topping ODI Rankings
In a significant achievement, Pakistani players have secured leading positions in two vital ODI categories in the most recent International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, delivering exceptional performances in the Cricket World Cup for Pakistan, surged nine positions to claim the top spot as the finest ODI bowler. At the same time, Babar Azam, Pakistan’s captain, remains the top-ranked batsman.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) cheered this milestone, saying, “With @babarazam258 as the No.1 batter, this is the first time in history that both a Pakistani batsman and bowler have topped the ODI rankings at once, according to the ICC.”
Afridi recently tied for the most wickets in the tournament, sharing the spot with Australia’s Adam Zampa, both achieving 16 wickets. Afridi also set a record as the fastest pace bowler to reach 100 ODI wickets, achieving this incredible feat in just 51 matches. These achievements give Pakistani cricket fans plenty to celebrate.
