AI MEETS FASHION: GOOGLE TEAMS UP FOR NEXT-GEN SMART GLASSES

At the google i/o conference 2025, Google aims to combine fashion and tech by announcing a partnership with  Warby Parker and Gentle Monster for the development of AI glasses.

After Google discontinued its Google Glass Project, they are willing to develop AI glasses with all the essential features for everyday use in wearable tech. Google will develop these glasses in the Android-powered XR platform.

As part of the deal, Google plans to invest up to $150 million in Warby Parker. About  $75 million will go directly into developing the glasses. The other $75 million will be in the form of equity, but that part depends on Warby Parker hitting the performance goals laid out in the agreement.

The previous project of Google was discontinued due to privacy concerns and other related issues.

As a result of the current partnership, the new product is expected to hit after 2025.
