Pakistan and China to Build Road Between Gwadar Port and Airport
Pakistan has finally signed an agreement on developing an expressway, between the port of Gwadar and the newly completed International Airport Gwadar with a counterpart of China. Such initiatives underlie the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which supports Pakistan in enhancing infrastructure with increasing economic growth between two countries.
Along the expressway and new routes connecting Mirpur-Muzaffarabad and Karachi-Hyderabad, both countries agreed to explore feasibility studies for other motorways.
These are part of a much-broader initiative in Pakistan to add to the country’s transportation system, so travel times go down; trade will ease, allowing for the facilitation of new economic opportunities.
Pakistan’s Minister for Planning, Ahsan Iqbal acknowledged that China was continuing support for the betterment of Pakistan’s infrastructure. He believes that the completion of those earlier CPEC projects, like Multan-Sukkur Motorway that have been achieved, is living proof of tangible benefits developed through these structures.
These proposed expressways and motorways are supposed to improve the movement of goods and people, opening up greater economic potential for Pakistan. Further, proposals for a mineral corridor in Balochistan are under consideration, again indicating a commitment to the improvement of Pakistan’s transport network. These initiatives mark the continuing partnership between Pakistan and China in modernizing regional infrastructure, boosting economic growth, and creating new opportunities for trade and development.
