Samsung to Introduce Its Tri-Fold Smartphone in 2025

Samsung has been working on a device that will be the first commercial smartphone to feature a tri-fold screen. Huawei Mate XT Ultimate was launched in September 2024 after this announcement.

Reports from Korea indicate that Samsung will initially manufacture less than 300,000 units. Such a low output is because the manufacturing process of such an advanced device is complicated. However, if demand from consumers increases in the future, the company may expand its production lines.

The tri-fold smartphone is expected to come with the highest price tag ever for a Samsung foldable. Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT, which leaves part of the display exposed when folded, Samsung’s design will fully enclose the screen for enhanced durability—a key improvement addressing a common issue with foldable technology.

Expansive Display Options

The tri-fold mechanism will offer versatility in screen sizes. When folded to the left, the device will expose a 10.5-inch display, and further folding to the right will stretch the screen to a huge 12.4 inches, giving tablet-level functionality.

Samsung Display will provide the panels, and it will be compatible with this revolutionary design. The device will allegedly not have an under-display camera, which is probably a sacrifice for durability and structure over other features.

Waiting for Official Confirmations

There is no official date announced yet, but the news is coming from the industry leaks and insider information. More details might come out when Samsung is going to launch its Z Series foldable in summer 2025.

Stay tuned to updates as Samsung continues to innovate within the foldable smartphone market.
