WATER WARS HEATING UP? CHINA PUSHES MOHMAND DAM PROJECT AS INDIA TIGHTENS FLOW
China, a key strategic partner of Pakistan, has always aligned itself with the betterment of both countries. As the tension between Pakistan and India rises and India has suspended the Indus Water Treaty, China said it is accelerating the construction of the MOHMAND DAM.
This decision is followed by India’s suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. The dam is situated in the province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The construction started in 2019 and is expected to be completed in 2026.
As the tension in the region rises every country in the nation has to take steps in order to save their country from the water crisis.
This dam is a flagship project under CPEC. especially for the water crisis and for electricity generation in Pakistan. This dam can generate 300 MW of electricity and provide 800 gallons of water in Peshawar and nearby areas.
This dam can improve irrigation in many areas responsible for agriculture in those areas.
This statement proves China’s commitment and the friendship between Pakistan and China.
