Najam Sethi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee, has announced that there is a significant level of interest from potential buyers who want to own two new teams in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The PSL expansion has attracted many buyers, according to Sethi.


Najam Sethi spoke to a YouTube channel and revealed that he had previously considered the idea of adding new teams to the Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, he had not discussed it with anyone until Javed Afridi, owner of Peshawar Zalmi, suggested Faisalabad and Sialkot as potential locations for the new teams. Sethi said Afridi “fired the first shot” in this regard.

Najam Sethi expressed his desire to add at least two new teams to the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He stated that he had previously thought about the idea but had not discussed it with anyone. However, Javed Afridi, owner of Peshawar Zalmi, suggested Faisalabad and Sialkot as potential locations for the new teams, which was the first time the idea had been publicly mentioned. Sethi clarified that no decisions had been made, and no discussions had taken place with the existing PSL franchises.


Sethi acknowledged the concerns of existing PSL franchises about potential revenue loss and market saturation impact.

Sethi emphasized the importance of including existing franchises in the consultation process, but noted that there is significant interest in buying new PSL teams. He believes that adding two new teams to the league will be a win-win situation for all parties involved.
