“Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Enter into Agreement”
On Sunday, the Pakistani government officially affirmed its engagement in the yearly Hajj pilgrimage through the signing of an agreement. The representative for Pakistan, Caretaker Religious Affairs Minister Aneeq Ahmed, joined the Saudi Arabian Hajj and Umrah Minister, Taufiq bin Fauzan Al-Rabiah, in approving the accord.
Both parties expressed their dedication to ensuring optimal facilities for Pakistani pilgrims, which involves designating a specific and cost-effective area in Mina—a crucial location during the Hajj pilgrimage. Aneeq Ahmed, who, along with ministry officials, recently visited Saudi Arabia, stressed the significance of collaborative efforts to enhance the pilgrimage experience for Pakistani nationals.
Pakistan had previously conducted a ballot to select over 60,000 Muslims for the government’s Hajj scheme. With a total allocation of around 180,000 seats, encompassing both government and private operators, this agreement solidifies the arrangement between the two nations for the upcoming pilgrimage.
