Punjab Unveils Detailed Traffic Plans for New Year Celebrations
Punjab Police have implemented comprehensive traffic management plans to ensure smooth operations and public safety during New Year’s Eve celebrations. A large number of traffic wardens and police officers will deal with issues like one-wheeling, aerial firing, and reckless driving.
In Rawalpindi, over 800 traffic wardens will work alongside 6,600 policemen in order to manage the movement of people and regulate roads. As a preventive measure against the commission of criminal activities, 32 special pickets have been put in place, with some extra pickets located on strategic positions. Roads are to be patrolled through the deployment of units of Dolphin Force and Mohafaz Squad, strictly reporting offenders and ensuring strict implementation of orders.
More than 25,000 personnel have been deployed in Lahore and other parts of Punjab for traffic regulation and road safety. In Lahore alone, more than 5,000 officers will be deputed, which will also include specialized units such as Dolphin Squad and Punjab Highway Patrol. These teams will provide enhanced patrolling on highways and major roads to maintain smooth traffic flow.
The authorities have stressed a zero-tolerance policy toward violations such as one-wheeling and illegal road use, cautioning that violators will be arrested and FIRs will be lodged. The citizens are requested to inform the police about any suspicious or illegal activities through the police helpline number 15 to ensure peace and order during the celebrations.
